If you are the owner of a 06+ Honda s2000 you now have a cheaper and simpler tuning option for your car! Previously your only tuning option was using Hondata’s dual K-Pro ECU system. While this system certainly filled the void for 06+ s2000 owners to be able to tune their cars, it was a bit complex and expensive. With the recent release of FlashPro you can now directly flash the factory ecu! Hondata has just made their announcement that the FlashPro system for the 06+ s2000′s will be available November 9th, 2009. Evans Tuning is extremely excited to help spread the word and finally offer a cheaper tuning solution for these cars! Here are some of the exciting features for the new FlashPro:
FlashPro features
- Programmable ECU interface.
- Connects via OBDII diagnostic port.
- USB 2.0 connection
- Works with Laptop or Desktop
- No ECU modification necessary.
- 90 second ECU programming time.
- 20 hours on board datalogging memory.
- FlashProManager Windows software.
- Check and clear diagnostic codes.
- Customizable laptop gauges.
- Readiness codes and smog check status.
- Dual calibration storage – upload from one of two calibrations stored in the FlashPro
ET Puts the new AEM EMS 30-6052 box through its paces.
Aug 28th
Eagerly anticipating the new AEM Series 2 boxes for the Honda and Acura market, I was able to work with AEM on putting some pre-production Series 2 boxes to the test! The 30-6052 box, which replaces the 30-1052 for the 00-05′ applications was first on the list. With an 03′ supercharged s2000 as the donor car, I was able to get some good testing feedback for AEM. The new AEM Tuner software is great to work with, and has made leaps and bounds in the past several months. I was a bit skeptical with the new software, because it did not the same “feel” as AEMPRO but after a few hours of using Tuner I was hooked! With custom definable workspaces, intuitive software, and an overall more user-friendly interface the new Tuner software is an awesome step forward for AEM.
USB Interface
One of the biggest changes to the new Series 2 boxes is the USB interface. While the Series 2 box does have the traditional RS232 (serial) interface, the USB is an awesome addition. No more usb to serial conversion cables, or driver issues! Just plug in the USB cable, assign the driver and your tuning! I personally use a Mac laptop with a program called “Parallels VM” that allows me to run Windows XP software. I usually have a lot of issues assigning drivers, but not with Tuner! Within 2 minutes I was online with the Series 2 box and tuning. I cannot stress how much more convenient the USB feature is with the Series 2 boxes.
Convert Calibration
The new Tuner series software has a “convert calibration” feature that converts the file from V1.19 in AEMPro software to the 0v10 in AEM Tuner. This will allow you to take your current “tuned” calibration file and be able to have your car up and running on the Series 2 box within minutes! Its that easy, just convert the file, plug in the Series 2 box and have your car running within 98% of its previous tune! I was very impressed with this feature while tuning. My testing consisted of tuning the s2000 on the series 1 box. Taking that file, converting it from V1.19 to 0v10 and uploading to the Series 2 box. After checking a few parameters, I was making dyno pulls! Within 2 pulls the car was making the same power/torque as with the Series 1 box.
Miscellaneous
Another application specific advancement with the Series 2 boxes for the s2000 applications is full functionality of the factory coolant temperature gauge! No more Modifry circuit to make the gauge work properly! Some additional advancements to the software are definable mph breakpoints for the speed based boost control tables, named/grouped configurable outputs for ease of management and navigation and overall more custom user configurable (layout) software that is suited to individual user needs.
Overall
Time breeds innovation and advancements in electronics, and the new Series 2 boxes are no exception. The hardware design of the boards is completely changed from the Series 1 boxes, which much higher quality drivers and components throughout. If you have a Series 1 box and are thinking about switching out to a Series 2 do it! You certainly will not be disappointed! AEM is advancing very quickly with software development, so as time progresses the software will as well. If you are in the market for a EMS system for your s2000, the Series 2 is what you are after! The Series 2 box is completely plug and play, so if emission testing is a reason that you are not considering AEM think again! With plug and play components such as map sensor and injector clips you can quickly return your s2000 back to stock within 20-30 minutes.

Buyer Beware – Knock off Injector Dynamics/Bosch 1000ccs on the Market!
Feb 24th
It was only a matter of time before someone came out with a knock off version of the InjectorDynamics.com saturated Bosch 1000cc/min injectors. The actual Bosch injector is an OEM injector used in production cars. InjectorDynamics.com reflows them to 1000cc/min, which is standard practice with any aftermarket injector you will find. The reason that the InjectorDynamics.com 1000cc/min injectors work so well is because all 4 injectors are matched together: More >
InjectorDynamics.com/Bosch 750cc Saturated Injectors Intro Sale!!
Feb 11th
By now you have probably heard about the latest and greatest Injector Dynamics/Bosch saturated 1000cc injector to hit the market. They run better than anything else out there, and have since become one of our best selling items lately! The supply and demand factor is playing a huge role right now with our inventory. We only have a few more B-Series, K-Series and s2000 Injector Dynamics 1000cc/min left in stock, once they are sold we are not going to be able to have them in inventory until the end of March!! Many of the people that have been ordering the 1000cc’s have commented that they really dont need an injector that large, but since they run so well there is no reason to get anything else. Injector Dynamics has released a new 750cc saturated version of the popular Bosch 1000cc. They are saturated, a drop in installation and require no resistors to be added. The response time and drivability are equal to the 1000cc’s, but in a 750cc flow rate. These are perfect for all motor, supercharged and 500whp turbo builds. If you want to run a high base fuel pressure (90-100 psi), these injectors will flow approximately 1200 cc/min worth of fuel. Our Intro special on these injectors is over, they are available on our online store HERE. We are offering free shipping in the 48 states, and free upgrade to the wireless injector clips if needed.
Competition Clutch Huge Stocking Order, Huge Savings!!!
Jan 23rd
A few years ago I was seeing alot of cars coming into the shop with a relatively new clutch brand named Competition Clutch. I had seen some advertisements in magazines, and had seen them set-up at the NOPI race series but never really looked at them much past that. My personal grudge against the majority of the aftermarket clutch brands is using an excessive pressure plate on the clutch to hold the torque, which causes super high pedal pressure and typically a lot of clutch chatter when releasing the clutch pedal. There is nothing worse in stop and go traffic than a clutch pedal that feels like you are pushing against a wall of bricks. Despite leaving you with a well toned left leg, its extremely annoying especially compounded with a “on/off” engagement from the clutch. Race friendly, maybe. Daily driver friendly, no. To my surprise the first few cars using high torque rated Competition Clutches (stage 4 and 5) had surprisingly light pedal pressure and engagement despite being rated to hold 350-450 ft-lbs of torque. The stage 2 clutch which was rated at 275 ft-lbs of torque felt almost like stock in pedal pressure and engagement. I was shocked, and immediately wanted one in my own car! More >
Injector Dynamics 1000cc Saturated Injectors
Jan 19th
If you have not yet heard, the new Injector Dynamics 1000cc Saturated injectors are probably one of the best things to happen to the aftermarket scene in quite some time. I have tuned over 1000+ cars in the last 9 years being a professional EFI tuner. I have encountered many cars that have just ran poorly due to the specific fuel injectors that they were using, even after tuning. This can be attributed to poor atomization, inconsistency in fuel delivery between injectors and increased dead time using a saturated injector driver to drive a low impedance fuel injector. Most of issues attributed with poor fuel injectors are lean misfiring at idle (usually associated with a “popping” noise from the exhaust), rough partial throttle drivability at low throttle conditions (due to slow response time at low millisecond opening/closing) and hard starting.

Honda’s S3000?
Sep 28th
Found an interesting read today on RoadandTrack.com, about Honda’s coming S2K successor. It hasn’t actually been named the Honda S3000 which derives from the possibility of a 3.0L+ engine spec. Not quite sure that what we are looking at here is something that I could see coming out of the Honda factory anytime soon. This mock-up looks a bit too much like newer Audi designs for me to really be interested personally but I suppose thats just one person’s opinion.
I’m interested. What are your thoughts on the S3000 concept pictured above? Would you buy it? Does a 3.0L+ engine make sense for this chassis?
