24-Hour Tuning in Phoenix, AZ!

I’m frequently asked to travel to tune cars. There are other tuners that can easily pick up and travel to tune cars, but when you have a big shop (I mean square footage – it get’s expensive) with cars to constantly wrench on and tune, traveling is just out of the question! Geoff from Full-Race Motorsports has been asking me to make the trip to Phoenix, AZ for a while to retune his Nissan R14 (http://www.full-race.com/r14/) with the new fuel, turbo, and v-mount intercooler setup.

As a personal favor to Geoff, I decided to bite the bullet and fly out there for a day. To justify leaving the shop for a trip to AZ, Geoff arranged for some local cars to be tuned as well. Besides Geoff’s R14, I had three 06+ Honda Civic Si’s to tune. Two of the Si’s were equipped with the new Full Race Stage 2 GT Kits (GT3076R), and the other Si had a CT Engineering Stage 2 Supercharger Kit. My flight plans gave me a solid 24 hours in Phoenix to get everything done, which I didnt think would turn into a tuning marathon… I was wrong!

Full Race Turbo Kit Results for 06+ Civic Si!

082209-fr_si

Full Race has done it again and released an awesome, well sorted out turbo kit for the new 06+ Civic Si. The same awesome quality, power, and reliability you have come to expect from their other turbo kit applications is now available to all 06+ Civic Si owners! I was extremely excited to be the first to tune one of these set-ups with FlashPro, and help usher in the next step in big power set-ups for these cars! The current other turbo and supercharger “kits” on the market cannot hold anything in terms of the power potential that the FR kit offers. This particular kit is based around the Garrett GT3076R ball bearing turbo, which is well suited to the high revving and efficient K20 engines. More >

Injector Dynamics 1000cc Saturated Injectors

b1000s-4If you have not yet heard, the new Injector Dynamics 1000cc Saturated injectors are probably one of the best things to happen to the aftermarket scene in quite some time. I have tuned over 1000+ cars in the last 9 years being a professional EFI tuner. I have encountered many cars that have just ran poorly due to the specific fuel injectors that they were using, even after tuning. This can be attributed to poor atomization, inconsistency in fuel delivery between injectors and increased dead time using a saturated injector driver to drive a low impedance fuel injector. Most of issues attributed with poor fuel injectors are lean misfiring at idle (usually associated with a “popping” noise from the exhaust), rough partial throttle drivability at low throttle conditions (due to slow response time at low millisecond opening/closing) and hard starting.

Tial releases New V-Band MV-S 38mm wastegate!

tialvbandgateTial Sport has recently released their new MV-S wastegate. Here is what Tial says about this awesome new product: TiAL will be replacing the F38 wastegate with the new MV-S wastegate. Small was on our mind when we developed this new ultra compact wastegate. It stands only 3.7″ in height vs the current F38 which is 4.85″ Other features include 3 bottom pressure ports for easy install and a top mount pressure port that can be rotated 6 different ways. No more bolts or gaskets and all configurations are leaded fuel safe. we also altered the way the diaphragm sits so it is virtually impossible to pinch.

Currently no turbo manifold manufactuer supports the new MV-S wastegate, but you will see everyone moving towards using them in the near future. The MV-S would hands down be the best choice for a divided manifold. Full-Race is currently redesigning their twin scroll manifolds to support these compact wastegates. Look out for the new bottom mount b-series twin scroll manifold to flanged for the Tial MV-S. These wastegates are great for custom fabrication projects.  Evans Tuning will be stocking the new Tial MV-S gates, so wait time will be kept to a minimum!  We expect these to move fast, so get your orders in today! You can find these new gates here on our online store.  You can also place your order over the phone at 1.886.975.TUNE.

Below is a size comparison between the current Tial 38mm wastegate and the new Tial MV-S V-Band 38mm wastegate.
