Get Tuned Before The Outlaw Race In October!
Aug 17th
Before I get started with the post explaining why you should book your appointment for tuning early I’ll summarize it. If you plan to have your car tuned before October’s Outlaw Race you should absolutely have it booked as far in advance as you possibly can to make sure we still have slots available! Now, here is why I say that…
Usually at the beginning of race season, we make a post informing everyone that our schedule is starting to fill quickly. We do this every year to help everyone become more aware of the availability and have even started posting updates to Facebook and Twitter throughout the year of when we are booking. One of our largest complaints from customers has been our 2-3 month wait times. After streamlining the systems we tune, and adding eTuning to our repertoire of tuning services, we have successfully kept that wait time under 2 months in 2010.
However, one of the most anticipated races of 2010 will be October’s Outlaw Race taking place at Englishtown’s Old Bridge Raceway Park on the 9th and 10th. As with any race, we expect our calendar to fill up fast with appointments in the few weeks leading up to the weekend. We try to fit as many tunes as possible into the schedule to accommodate the influx of appointments and work overtime sometimes scheduling up to 3 tunes in a single day. Unfortunately, there just aren’t enough hours in the day to fit everyone, and we end up having to turn some folks away in the weeks leading up to a big race.
The closer it gets to race day, the more magnified the problem becomes. We fill in appointments just about every day for daily drivers and road course cars that are not coming in to be tuned for an event like the Outlaw Race. Just two weeks ago we had a lot of calls from customers who wanted to be tuned before Honda Day. Unfortunately, we rarely have any appointments a week ahead of time and were already booking almost a month beyond Honda Day. On more than one occasion we’ve seen the appointments in the final week before a race be predominately for daily drivers, and cars that will not be and have no intention of heading to the track. Most of these cars are in no serious rush to have their setups tuned, however the owners have made plans to get to the cars down to us on those days and can not afford to change them.
Most of this issue can be avoided by booking your appointments early! If you know that you will be running at the Outlaw Race in October, give us a call as soon as possible or schedule your appointment online and make sure that we can get your car in and ready for the track. We look forward to the race and we hope to see everyone there!
etMeet 2010 – 09/04/10
Jul 30th
Evans Tuning’s Annual Car Meet (etMeet 2010) is just a few weeks away. I could clutter this post with the details of the meet, but you can find those here. Instead I want to take a minute to reflect on our past efforts and what to expect this year.
2008
In 2008, Evans Tuning held the first ever “annual” etMeet. It was extremely hot that day, Andrea was pregnant, turnout was huge, and there was leftover food for weeks. Needless to say, we were unprepared to capture the event and share it online afterward. Lucky for us, most of our attendees brought their cameras and took a large number of photos which were since spread all over the web in a relatively unorganized fashion (maybe not so lucky for us).
2009
Last year at etMeet 2009 we had an eventful day planned, and were relatively well organized (compared to 2008). Checkin went smooth as opposed to the hour long line of people checking in for the 2008 meet. Food was served quickly and the effectiveness of our meet staff was rather impressive (you would think we do this more than 1 time a year). Andrea was not pregnant this time around making the load a little lighter on everyone, and we had awesome giveaways planned (something we really didn’t do in 2008). Unfortunately, the threat of rain kept many from coming out, and the eventual storm drove home most of the attendees.
2010
So how does 2010 get better? Well obviously the rain holding off will be a big help so hopefully that is one battle we won’t need to fight. We plan to really document the meet well this year with photos, and on social networks. We’ve started a Twitter hashtag for attendees to share what is going on at the meet, an event page on Facebook for attendees to post photos from the meet, and we encourage everyone to link us to any video footage shot at this year’s meet (see below for more details).
Giveaways & Food
We will be doing some giveaways but we aren’t quite ready to announce the exact details on that. We’ll do a raffle as well this year but we’re not 100% certain of the product option yet. Food will be just as delicious as it’s been in previous years, and we’ll try to keep pricing as cheap as possible.
People and Parts
The primary goal of the meet is to make it enjoyable for everyone who attends. We’re likely to have a large S2000 and 8th Generation Civic crowd out for the day as the close to 100 sign-ups already show those cars in the majority. Jeff will be available at the parts table to chat, answer questions, meet people, and give you great deals. We’ll have a variety of parts in stock for the meet that we find our customers are most commonly looking for, as well as some used parts for awesome deals that have been hanging out around the shop.
Have questions?
If you have any specific questions about the event first refer to the official sign-up page here, and then email phil@evans-tuning.com.
We hope to see you there!

eTuning Section Added To Our Site
Jun 16th
Since we have started eTuning it has become very popular with a lot of our FlashPro and KPro customers. We’ve taken the time to add a new eTuning section to our web site under the current Tuning section (which now is broken down into sections for both Dyno Tuning and eTuning).
We’re excited to have this new section added to our site, and we hope it answers many of the questions we have received so far. The eTuning section will also stay updated as we add more cars that are able to be eTuned. Here are a list of the new pages:

Follow Us On Facebook And Twitter For Giveaways
May 11th
I know we posted recently about following us on social sites like Facebook and Twitter. I wanted to reiterate the importance of these sites as the climate on the Internet continues to change.
We are dedicated to our customers and supporting them. Jeff and Andrea read and respond to hundreds of emails every week, and we continually try to update our blog with the biggest news and updates in the industry.
Unfortunately, with the amount of people we staff at Evans Tuning it would be impossible to post every update in a blog post like this one. Fortunately, the Internet changes quite often and continually gets easier and easier to maintain. Facebook and Twitter have made this easy for us. We can post updates regularly (oftentimes, several per day) about the happenings here at Evans Tuning. We really recommend following us at one of these sources.
If you are not following us on either of these sites here are our links:

Sick Evo 8 Makes 725whp On Race Gas
May 3rd
If haven’t seen our previous post on this Evo 8 you need to check it out here. Since our last update on this car we have tuned numerous AWD setups, but we promised updated numbers on this Evo so needless to say we have some really impressive graphs.
We plan to do some track tuning with this Evo in the coming weeks and will make updates on what it runs. We will also try to get some pictures and videos of it running at the track.
This setup is exactly the same as the last time we tuned except for the addition of Q16 race gas. Here are the updated graphs:

Why Get an eTune from Evans Tuning?
Apr 16th
It has come to our attention that numerous other sites are offering eTuning services. Evans Tuning is certainly not the first provider of these services but we feel we have a significant advantage compared to other providers. Here is why you should eTune with Evans Tuning.
- We offer UNLIMITED ADJUSTMENTS to your eTune. Other providers limit the amount of revisions they will do.
- We provide ONE LEVEL of unmatched eTuning! No basic tunes here. We give it our all, all of the time.
- We have a VERY LARGE DATABASE of perfected dyno tunes. Most eTuners state that they have little to no dyno tuning experience. We tune all day every day.
- We provide UNMATCHED CUSTOMER SERVICE via email. Most revisions are provided within a few hours and normally no more than 1 business day.
- We have the option for customers to UPGRADE TO A DYNO TUNE for the price of a retune. We stand behind our work and know it’s worthy of our discounted rates.
- We have over 10 YEARS of tuning experience. Tuning is the most important step of any build and we take each tune very seriously.
We are all for the shift to internet based business, tuning, and customer service, but can you afford to trust your tune to just any internet company?
